Overview
RF 2A4M1 is the entry point of the GenBasic adapter line: one 2.4 GHz stream, no Bluetooth radio, and a housing small enough that it does not overhang the ports beside it.
It is built for the case where a board needs network access and nothing
more — a headless deployment, a sensor node, a machine whose Ethernet run
is impractical. Because it sits on the kernel’s own wireless stack, it
presents as an ordinary interface to NetworkManager, iw and
wpa_supplicant, and there is no module to rebuild when the OS updates.
Its low-power design matters more than it sounds: a USB 2.0 port budgets 500 mA, and an adapter that exceeds it destabilises whatever else shares the hub.
