Overview
Most “flaky USB” on a single-board computer is a power problem wearing a disguise. A board fed from a spare phone charger sags under load, and the symptoms surface everywhere except the supply: an adapter that vanishes from the bus, storage that corrupts, a board that reboots under load.
This supply is specified for that job — 3 A at 5 V, held up under load, and UL Listed, which is a safety certification granted against a file number rather than a claim printed on a box.
The inline switch is the detail people keep it for. A board with no power button otherwise gets power-cycled by pulling the connector, which wears the socket and eventually the board.
